"Immersion develops, manufacturers, licenses and supports hardware and software technologies that enable users to use their sense of touch while interacting with digital devices. In the automotive market, manufacturers incorporate Immersion's technology in telematics or infotainment systems to enhance the driver experience and reduce production costs. Being able to program the "feel" of a knob, car designers have the freedom to design clutter-free dashboards to reduce cognitive loading and drivers can easily operate controls while keeping their eyes on the road.

There are a growing number of auto companies licensing Immersion's TouchSense* technologies, such as BMW's iDrive and the Volkswagen Phaeton. Prototype units are available for COMET partners in the form of rotary switches, scroll wheels, joysticks and other interfaces. These interfaces are available in serial, USB and CANbus.
