SiRF GPS

Introduction

From its founding in 1995, SiRF has designed its GPS technology and chipsets for the telematics and vehicle navigation market segments. SiRF's industry leading GPS signal acquisition and tracking performance was introduced in 1998 with the SiRFstarI chipset supported by the Renesas baseband host CPU (SH1), establishing SiRF as a leader in the automotive GPS. In 1999, SiRF introduced the revolutionary SiRFstarIIe family of products which provided sophisticated multipath rejection for better location fixes, fast acquisition for urban canyon performance and increased integration allowing ever smaller GPS implementations. Recently, SiRF has introduced the SiRFstarIIeLP and SiRFstarIIt product families providing a complete portfolio of solutions available for Telematics applications.

The SiRFstarIIt GPS Tracker solution takes advantage of the processing throughput provided by powerful telematics host CPU platforms such as Renesas's SH4 to run the SiRFNav navigation software, reducing the overall cost and size of the GPS function. For telematics solutions that require optimum position availability and accuracy, SiRF also provides its SiRFDRive Dead Reckoning software package as an option to its navigation software. The SiRFstarIIt baseband device integrates the odometer wheel tick counter and ADC required to input the odometer (speed) and gyro (heading) information into the navigation solution cost effectively. Over the years, SiRF, along with the acquired Conexant GPS product line, has established a solid customer base and reputation as a premier provider of GPS solutions for telematics.

As a Renesas (formerly Hitachi) partner, SiRF is ideally equipped to provide customers with the highest performance, most cost effective GPS solution available backed up by a world-class support team ready to help bring your next telematics solution to life.
